Apex Exit Advisors was founded by Stephen E. Capizzi, who also serves as its Managing Principal. While Steve has worked with a wide range of business owner clients over the last 30 years in financial services, he specializes in providing comprehensive exit strategies for small to mid-size businesses and family-owned businesses. He has assisted hundreds of entrepreneurs in increasing the value of their businesses, developing strategic transition plans, and carrying out the business selling process to maximize sell-side proceeds.

Apex Exit Advisors was founded by Stephen E. Capizzi, who also serves as its Managing Principal. While Steve has worked with a wide range of business owner clients over the last 30 years in financial services, he specializes in providing comprehensive exit strategies for small to mid-size businesses and family-owned businesses. He has assisted hundreds of entrepreneurs in increasing the value of their businesses, developing strategic transition plans, and carrying out the business selling process to maximize sell-side proceeds.

His banking, valuation, financial planning, and M&A experience along with his educational backgrounds create a unique combination of skills that provides “spot on” perspective that business owners can learn and benefit from. Steve recognizes that most advisors are just unfamiliar with the planning process and available opportunities to allow owners to exit on their own terms. He is passionate about changing exit outcomes. Steve’s transition planning education and experience started in 1996 and over the years he has achieved the Certified Merger & Acquisition Advisor designation through the elite organization: The Alliance for Merger and Acquisition Advisors. To complement his M&A skills, Steve learned to master the art of “Increasing Business Value” and was awarded the elite designation of Certified Value Growth Advisor through the VOP Advisor Program. Currently, he is licensed as a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER Practitioner™ (CFP®) through the CFP® Board of Standards and is also a member of the Exit Planning Institute®, the premier international organization for education and resources for the exit planning professional. He holds the Certified Exit Planning Advisor (CEPA) designation, which fewer than 2000 advisors hold nationwide.
Steve enjoys relationships with many professional organizations related to the financial services trade and has served in leadership roles such as President of the Financial Planning Association of Georgia. Currently, he serves as President of the Georgia Chapter of the Exit Planning Institute. These and other organizations have asked Steve to speak on the topic of Exit Planning for Business Owners. In 2017, he was awarded “Member of The Year” by The Exit Planning Institute, for his leadership and professional achievements.
He lives in Alpharetta, Georgia where he enjoys fitness, hiking, and enjoys learning about the human mind. Steve, loves all sports especially football and baseball. He attends First Baptist Church of Atlanta.

Having facilitated millions in financing for businesses, Phillip understands what makes companies attractive to buyers and investors.

In 2015, Phillip launched his consulting practice, P & P Business Solutions, specializing in debt and equity capital raising for lower middle market businesses. He earned his CEPA® designation from the Exit Planning Institute in 2019 and has since guided numerous owners through complex exit planning processes and sell-side deal negotiations.

What sets Phillip apart is his unique dual perspective as both a seasoned banker and certified exit planning strategist. His banking background provides intimate knowledge of how lenders and investors evaluate businesses, while his CEPA® training ensures he can maximize business value and minimize transition risks.

Phillip focuses on proactive planning, recognizing that successful exits require strategic preparation. He works with owners to identify value enhancement opportunities, address potential roadblocks, and ensure financial readiness for transition. Lea’s expertise spans both sides of the table. She has scaled businesses, co-founded and managed real estate portfolios, and led high-performing sales and advisory teams in both corporate and entrepreneurial environments. Prior to joining Apex, she has served in leadership and senior business development roles in the business services and real estate sectors.
